WHAT IS GROUND CONTROL?
Ground Control is a brand that makes LUTs and other imaging resources for video color grading and post-production.
WHAT IS A LUT?
LUT stands for "Look Up Table." It's a set of values that remaps the colors in an image. Some LUTs make images appear crisper, increase or decrease contrast, or tweak/ limit saturation. The possibilities are endless! The great thing about LUTs is they're not app-specific like a preset, so they can be enjoyed by nearly anyone!

HOW DO I USE LUTS?
LUTs can be used in a wide variety of apps. The LUT just needs to be applied to your footage through your app of choice. Sometimes LUTs have to be in a specific folder, sometimes you can navigate to them. Each app is different, and a quick google search will usually get you some good results. ALSO... WHAT CAMERA PROFILE/SETTINGS SHOULD I USE?
All of our LUTs are designed to be used with specific settings. You can use them on whatever footage you like, but they'll work best with well exposed, white balanced, footage shot with the right profile and with the right settings.
Usually, the picking a LOG or flat profile is a good bet. Turn contrast, saturation, and sharpness as low as they'll go. That should give you good results.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL SOFTWARE?
Maybe. If you don't have an app that does color correction or works with images, you will probably need to get one.
Our LUTs work out of the box with DaVinci Resolve, Speedgrade, Premiere, After Effects, and even Photoshop!
If you're working in FCP X, you'll need to get LUT Utility or FCPX LUT Loader to use any kind of LUT.
Edit in Sony Vegas? Get this plugin to use LUTs.
For older programs such as FCP7, and before Adobe CC, you may need to download a utility like LUT Buddy to use our LUTs.
All our LUTs are 3D LUTs delivered in .cube, .3DL, and .mga file formats.
If you're not sure if our LUTs will work with your software, make sure to download one of our FREE LUTS BEFORE you buy anything.
We can't give refunds for compatibility issues, sorry :(
I DOWNLOADED A LUT ON OS X AND IT SAYS IT'S AN EXE FILE, HELP!
All of our LUTs are cross-platform. That means that they work the same on OS X and Windows, even Linux! Sometimes they'll show up with on OS X with an icon that says "EXE." Don't worry, it's not a Windows-only file. Just load the LUT into your color program of choice. Here's how to do that in Resolve, Premiere, or FCPX.
